Employers, young people, parents and carers are being invited to find out more about the great opportunities apprenticeships deliver at a free event in Southampton on Tuesday, March 19 at St Mary’s Stadium.
'Apprenticeships Deliver' is being held at The Mike Channon Suite. It includes:
- a breakfast event for employers from 8am to 9.30am to find out more about how employing apprentices can be good for business.
- drop-in sessions for young people, parents and carers between 3pm and 6pm where they can learn more from training providers, meet current apprentices and get hands-on experience. No booking required.
Schools and pupils are also being invited during the day to meet employers, training providers, current apprentices and have a go at some activities.
Councillor Sarah Bogle, Southampton City Council’s cabinet member for children’s services and learning, said: "We want people to find out how apprenticeships can deliver a range of opportunities and I would urge employers and young people to get on board and come along to this free event.
'Apprenticeships are a great option for young people'
"Apprenticeships are a great option for young people, allowing them to earn a wage while gaining valuable work-related qualifications and can be the pathway to many exciting opportunities."
"Apprentices also benefit businesses, making them more competitive and providing them with the skilled workers that they need for the future."
Jodi Fair, Head of National Apprenticeship Service - Employer Accounts South Central, said: “As the organisation responsible for apprenticeships throughout England, the National Apprenticeship Service believes in the real benefits that employing apprentices can bring to businesses and young people in the south.
"Apprentices have a major part to play in the future of our local economy and the skills they bring can help businesses to develop, be successful and grow. The event in Southampton provides an excellent opportunity for young people and employers to come along to see what apprenticeships can offer."
There are more than 250 different types of apprenticeships available offering over 1,400 job roles.
