Police say at about 7am Wednesday, March 20, a 56-year-old man was cycling in Riverside Park when a man who was walking a dog barged into him, knocking him from his bicycle.
When the cyclist got up and shouted at the dog walker, the attacker returned and hit him. As a result, the cyclist suffered ligament damage to his right shoulder, a broken leg and a scratched nose.
The attacker is described as a white man, aged 50-55, who is 5ft 9ins tall and of broad build. He wore a woolly hat and a blue Helly Hansen jacket with red trim. He was unshaven and scruffy looking.
Sergeant Paul Selby is appealing for witnesses or anyone who recognises the image of the attacker.
“This appears to be an isolated attack on a cyclist who was using a dedicated cycle path. The area is used by a lot of people who cycle and walk dogs.
“I need to hear from anyone who saw the incident or who has seen or knows the man in the e-fit,” Sgt Selby said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt Selby at Bitterne on 101 or ring the anonymous Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111.
