This week sees the launch of the Hampshire Alliance Against Urban 4x4s. It consists of environmental groups and individuals who wish to see an end to unnecessary use of 4x4s in the towns and cities of Hampshire.
The Alliance Against Urban 4x4s says it uses "constructive, creative and peaceful means" to tackle the surge of big 4x4s in our towns and cities, on environmental grounds. On Saturday 2 September the group take to the streets of the historic city of Winchester to give spoof parking tickets to offending 4x4s, parked up in the narrow streets of Winchester’s city centre. Campaigners from across Hampshire and surrounding areas will be meeting at 10.30am on the green outside Winchester Cathedral.
