"The People's Assembly, a national group "aiming to unite those opposed to the government's austerity agenda, holds its Southampton launch on September 11.
"The local Assembly is being formed in reaction to the damaging impact which government cuts are having on the city," said David Smith, chair of the Assembly planning group. "Important public services are being closed or their hours reduced and the cost of living is going up – now, more that ever, the city needs a campaign for social justice and economic growth."
"The launch event will be a great opportunity for anyone angry about the government cuts and austerity to have their voice heard."
