The 'Cosy Homes Roadshow' will be visiting the Friends Meeting House in Southampton in October offering practical advice to help you get ready for winter and keep those rising heating bills at bay.
Working with the Environment Centre (tEC), Southampton Quakers are inviting the public into their hall to learn some simple but effective DIY skills to make their homes warmer. Activities on offer will include talks, practical demonstrations and the chance to 'have a go yourself'.
From how to line curtains with thermal fabric, to fitting a draught proof cover over a letterbox or installing a reflective panel behind a radiator, tEC's Cosy Homes Team are confident they can find a solution for every home.
Southampton Quakers are also looking forward to showcasing their own sustainability initiatives, and showing people how they plan to give their historic building an energy efficiency makeover.
Jo Moodie, Project Manager at the Environment Centre said: "We are excited to be working with community groups across the city this winter, showing people how they can take control of their energy bills, instead of sitting back and waiting for politicians to stop arguing about the matter!
Chance to learn new skills
"We hope lots of people will come along on the 1st or 5th – not only will this be a chance to learn some new skills and take away some free energy saving materials, but it will be a fun way to meet new people and find out what other Southampton residents are doing to save energy. We will be putting on other events over the coming months, so if you can't make it to this one please visit our website to find out more."
The Cosy Homes Roadshow is taking place thanks to funding from the ScottishPower Energy People Trust.
