The council is asking residents which services are most and least important to them via a survey about budget proposals, and the results could influence which services are prioritised and which are reduced or cut.
Southampton City Council estimates its survey should take about ten minutes to complete. It's available online and in public buildings like libraries.
"Last year over 2000 residents had their say, and we hope even more will do so this year," said Councillor Stephen Barnes-Andrews, cabinet member for resources. "We've got some difficult decisions to make and we welcome input from residents about which of our services they feel are most and least important to them."
Surveys should be completed by October 18, after which detailed budget proposals will be refined and then published, and further comment from residents will be sought. As part of the consultation on the detailed budget proposals a second survey will be live on November 11, and last until January 10.
Anyone completing the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win one of twenty £20 West Quay Vouchers.
