We have a great local line up for you, featuring Accrington Stanley, Grant Sharkey, Angela Chicken, and of course our hosts The Spiraltones. Yes, we're back after more than a year with another live podcast from Castle Spiraltone (mad fools that we are).
Our people cleared it with their people, and, technology willing, bitternepark.info, portswood.info and Sofa City Bands Collective are proud to bring you the following dazzling line up on Tuesday, October 22:
Tune in over the internet to listen using this very special link which you will need to bookmark << link now available.
Once more: for technical reasons, and unlike last time, we recommend you bookmark the link to the page that will have the player, above. We will also be putting this out via Twitter and our Facebook page nearer the time.
From as near to 8pm as we can - tune in to the test stream. Enjoy the sound of remote beaches, forest birdsong, and perhaps even a few talky bits from the archive.
From around 8.45pm - we may have a pre-recorded local audio feature, if it's ready in time. But it may not be.
Then at around 9pm - 10.30pm join The Spiraltones at home, this time with special guests (in no particular order):
- Angela Chicken – poet and writer
- Accrington Stanley - local indie rock giants
- Grant Sharkey - The man who's pledged to release 40 albums in 20 years
Read on to find out more about the artistes, all of whom will be playing 'nearly unplugged' (just to be neighbourly, you understand: the Castle walls are thick, but not that thick).
Angela Chicken – poet and writer
Angela performed on our first live podcast, is well-known on the thriving local poetry circuit, and if you haven't yet heard her performing her work, you're in for a treat. Tune in to the live pod, and for a sneak preview catch the 'listen again' for our first podcast, still available here.

Grant Sharkey - musician and binge thinker
Grant's aim is to release two albums a year for the next twenty years – and he's off to a fine start. Listen to our interview with Grant from April here, and find out more at http://www.grantsharkey.com/
Accrington Stanley
“Cult National Treasure” Accrington Stanley had two of their albums featured in the first 100 of the recently released John Peel archive. Follow this link to see two of the band members interviewed on South Today about this, and find out more on their website at http://www.accrington-stanley.com Pic: Adam Barnes
The Spiraltones
The Spiraltones recently released their first album 'You're So Analogue'. Gracious hosts for our first two live podcasts, they all live together in a big castle on a hill near a river and a road (that can get pretty busy in the rush hour) in Bitterne Park [Get on with it. Ed] Hear them on previous pods here and here, visit their site here, and look forward to more live loveliness on Tuesday. Pic: Jo Spiraltone, by Sarah Filmer
Our top tip: plug yer puter into yer stereo for maximum delightfulness!
What makes these things zing, is when people send their messages in.
We'd love to hear from you before, especially during, and even after the show: there will be various people on Twitter at the Castle, ready to take your messages and rush them to the performers (and they'll do their best if you have tech problems listening too). Just use the hashtag #spiralpod for maximum efficiency - and to follow other people's messages too. You can also email admin at bitternepark.info, and post on our Facebook page.
Break a leg, everyone.
