A Christmas Bazaar to raise cash for 24 pupils hoping to go on an expedition to Morocco takes place in the main hall at Bitterne Park School on Wednesday, December 11 from 3-7pm.

Something for all the family is promised, with Christmassy gift stalls, as well as activities including making your own Xmas present, beauty demonstrations, music, food, belly dancers, a raffle and an auction. A bar and refreshments will also be available.  

Adult entrance is £2 including cake and hot or cold drink. Entrance for children is free. All proceeds go towards the expedition.

'Life-changing'

The school says the trip will be a life-changing challenge for students, who will participate in an educational and community project with local residents from a Berber village. They will be sleeping rough, climb Mt Toubkel and develop various survival skills.

Pupils are raising more funds themselves through other activities, and are currently halfway through raising £1595 each – and apparently “just on target”.

'Dance Yourself Fit and Fundraise' classes are also taking place at the school every Tuesday, teaching ballroom and Latin dance moves: more informatioin is here.

Some parking is available in the school from 3pm for those going to the Bazaar, and organisers ask that visitors show consideration to the school’s neighbours if parking on nearby streets.
