Updated: The Summit café and tapas restaurant at Bitterne Park Triangle, which began trading under that name in June, and which recently opened its downstairs dining area, relocates to Portswood from Monday hopes to relocate to Portswood by Christmas eve.

Owner Caroline Dunsmore (pictured) said that one of the reasons for the move was the lack of passing trade at The Triangle.
“Obviously if you’re in Portswood you’ve got the walking-past trade, and we know that we’ve got the quality, and we’ve got the food right,” she said.
The new premises are in 'Urban', next to the Richmond pub, on the opposite side of the road to Waitrose, and on a single storey. Having just opened a new ‘low level’ eating area downstairs at The Triangle, Caroline said that half the new restaurant would retain the same style at the new premises.
“The pouffes and remote controlled lights will be coming with us!” she confirmed.
The move raises the question of what will happen to the existing Triangle premises: apparently, once the dust has settled, the Summit team may still run some sort of café there, but say that at this stage nothing is definite.
Update: The Summit will remain open at The Triangle certainly until the new premises are able to open, but some last-minute work in Portswood has slightly delayed the move.
• In other Triangle café news, 'Royal Café', which opened on Jan 30 in the former 'Something Nice' premises next to Italian café Il Picchio, has not opened in recent days. Its window is currently covered up with sheets of newspaper.
