Two new cafés have opened in as many days at The Triangle, bringing a new lease of life to the former Royal Café and The Summit premises.
Left: Karen Armstrong opens 'Class Café in the former Summit premises
Warren Dickens, who already runs The Diner in Swaythling, opened Lite Bites on January 8 in the former Royal Café premises, next door to Triangle Italian café Il Picchio.
Among his offerings will be breakfasts, sandwiches, teas, coffees, jacket potatoes and beef burgers.
Meanwhile over the road Class Café is promoted as a place where you can “eat yummy things and learn stuff.” It opened on Thursday, January 9, in the premises just vacated by The Summit, which is moving to Portswood.
Upstairs at Class Café Karen Armstrong is serving up a daytime menu including breakfasts (eg porridge with apple, cinnamon & honey, muesli & fruit, croissants or bacon & sausage butty), a selection of daily hot specials (including a soup and stew of the day), and quiches and salads. Afternoon tea and cake is also on the cards.
Downstairs classes
In the small downstairs area, previously used for ‘low level eating’, Class Café will host a variety of classes, from Yoga to art and language sessions, some of which Karen will teach herself. And when the space is not used for classes it’s going to be a play area for accompanied children.
Karen is also looking for teachers to run activities, either as part of her own ‘timetable’ or simply to independently rent the space.
