An ice cream parlour is coming to the Triangle, and is expected to open in the spring.
Owners Victoria and Darren Metcalfe have taken out a lease on the former Alphapet premises at 23 Manor Farm Road, and hope to be serving up real dairy ice creams and speciality coffees by late March or April.
“We are very local and like many people around here feel the Triangle needs fresh ideas such as the micro pub,” said Darren. “This and other things sparked this idea, and we hope it will capture the imagination of other locals and draw new people to shop here.”
As well as dairy ice cream and coffees, Dora's Cups & Cones will offer sorbets and dietary-specific ice creams.
Ice cream parlours have seen a surge in popularity in Southampton over the last few years: queues often form outside Sprinkles Gelato in Portswood, which opened in 2012, and a new Sprinkles opened in Above Bar in October 2013. Meanwhile Tooti’s Gelato Bar in Bedford Place promises “a modern-day gelateria dining experience.”
Back in Bitterne Park, it seems art will also be on the menu at Dora's Cups & Cones: “Our setting will be shabby chic and we hope to attract some local artists that may be able to display and put their work for sale,” Darren told bitternepark.info.
