A new art galllery has popped up in Southampton to showcase the work of local artists. The gallery, in Hanover Buildings, is open until March 7, six days a week from 10am to 6pm, and from 1-6pm on Sundays.
The gallery contains original work from over 20 artists painting, sculpture, prints, t-shirts, jewelry and other unique and custom-framed artwork.
The space has been provided by Moderna Arts, who specialise in taking on vacant properties and bringing them into use as art facilities. It means that local artists aren’t saddled with hefty commissions, but keep the sale proceeds from their work.
Local organiser Adam Oliver working with artists Kev Munday, John XWWX and Mark Genesis Khan has got the gallery going.
John XWWX says “Its great to have a showcase for local art. I’m delighted to be involved, and since the shop popped up, we have connected with an amazing range of artists and local people who are so supportive.”
