Southampton is to host a temporary ice rink over the festive season.
Not only will visitors to the city centre be able to
enjoy the popular German Market, they will also be able to don their
skates and take a turn about the Guildhall Square.
The promotion of a real ice pad, which is being sponsored by Carswell
Gould, The Mayflower Theatre and Wave 105.2fm, is the City Council’s
latest endeavour to promote Southampton as the region’s top retail
destination.
It’s hoped that special discounts for families and offers for residents
will make the ice rink a popular winter attraction and, if successful,
that it will find a regular place in the city’s Christmas celebrations.
The ice rink will open to the public between 10am and 10pm from Friday December 15 until Sunday 21 January 2007.
