Nuffield announces Christmas show

nuffield theatre sign thumbThe Nuffield has announced that its 2014 Christmas show will be a fun new version of Hans Christian Andersen's classic children's tale The Snow Queen.

A new adaptation will be written by multi award winning comedy writer Georgia Pritchett, who writes for TV shows including Miranda, Veep and The Thick of It.

The popular Danish tale tells the story about the wicked Snow Queen’s attempt to kidnap young boy Kai in the frozen north, and his playmate Gerda’s search and struggle to find him against evil and icy foe.

It will be a co-production with Royal & Derngate, Northampton, and mark the start of a new partnership between the two theatres, which will see them collaboratively commission, develop and produce annual adaptations of well-loved children's titles which will play at both theatres across two Christmas seasons.

The Nuffield last produced a version of The Snow Queen in 2004.
