Man 'pins boy to ground' in Riverside Park assault

riverside park treesPolice say a 10-year-old boy suffered bruising when he was assaulted by a man in Riverside Park between 5.30 and 6pm on Tuesday, June 3. {!jomcomment}

 

The boy was playing with friends and was shouting to them when a cyclist rode by. The youngster has told police that the cyclist seemed to think he was shouting at him.

The man approached the boy, grabbed him and pinned him to the ground. He shouted at the boy and then cycled off.

The boy suffered bruising in the assault.

The cyclist is described as:
• White
• In his 30s
• 6ft tall
• Average to large build,
• Clean shaven
• Local accent
• Wearing a black cycle helmet with a luminous green flat hat underneath; luminous green gloves; black jacket; black trousers and a big black rucksack on his back
• His bike had a green light on the back and a white light on the front.

PC Dale Douglas, who's investigating said: "The area was quite busy at the time and we feel certain that there are more witnesses to speak to. The description of the man is a good one – do you know who he is? Or is this you? Please contact us with any information."
