He’ll take a tour of the delivery office to see how the mountains of festive mail are dealt with, and chat to staff about their work. He’ll also meet Paul Murphy, Delivery Office Manager, and some of the 104 postmen and women, who are responsible for ensuring that Bitterne Manor’s massive Christmas mailbag is delivered to over 50,000 addresses at Royal Mail’s busiest time of year.

Commenting on the visit John Denham said: “We all appreciate the excellent job done by postal workers at this time of year.  I'm looking forward to meeting some of them and seeing for myself how they do it."

The visit will be just in time to post any cards and presents for delivery before Christmas, with the last recommended posting date on Tuesday December 19 for First Class mail.
