This National Libraries Day on Saturday, February 7, find out how Blue Peter award-winning children's author Ali Sparkes went from struggling reader to professional writer thanks to Cobbett Road – the library down the road!
Ali's "wonky road to authordom" began when she found a very important book in Cobbett Road Library. Forty successful children's adventure novels later, the kid who was slow at reading is now a literary festival favourite at Hay and Edinburgh and in demand in schools around the world for her high comedy, interactive shows.
Now Ali is returning to where it all began to share her highly comic tale of how she got to be an author... against all the odds. Prepare to join in, make funny noises and periodically go 'Aaaaaah' at the sad bits.
The event will run from 10.30am -12.30pm, with refreshments and children's activities. Ali's session is from 11-12.
