The woman walked past a group of four young men and a young woman, and one of the men in the group lifted her skirt and touched her leg before the group all walked off in the direction of Bitterne Park Triangle.

It happened at about 6pm on Thursday, March 19 – a peak time for traffic on the bridge.

The men in the group are described as white, in their early 20s, and wearing hoodies and jeans. The woman was also white and in her early 20s with shoulder length brown hair.

Detective Constable Gavin Jordan said: “The victim was left very upset by this unacceptable behaviour.  I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and can identify the members of this group and the young man responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Jordan at Southampton Central police station on 101, or to call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
