bitterne park secondary exteriorBitterne Park Secondary School reports that it will be holding another residents meeting in late April/early May about plans for the school to be replaced by completely new buildings, and in the meantime has released another bulletin which shows initial designs.

The bulletin illustrates the proposed layout, showing school accommodation spread across three and a half storeys, with dining and kitchen space almost three times the size of the current facilities.

The school says it's worked closely with the Education Funding Agency (EFA), Kier Construction and Stride Treglown Architects on the internal subject and department locations, student services and administration areas.

The next stage is for these partners to work with the school on the building design, and the external design of the sports and social spaces.

The EFA will then apply for planning permission, and be able to publicly share the project. The EFA will also hold a full public consultation, says the school.

At a previous residents' meeting in January, car parking, traffic concerns, and the design and construction of buildings were the main issues discussed.
