Here's a fascinating piece of memorabilia kindly sent by Caroline Brook-Jackson: it's an image of her grandfather's 1947 season membership card for Cobden Rowing Club. Read on to find out the 21 rules of the club - including rule six: "That Ladies be excluded from membership"!

The rowing club's headquarters were at the Bitterne Park Hotel, Caroline says, and her grandfather's brother was at that time the honary secretary.
