Skating across the channel
Southampton skaters are invited to get their skates on for a fun-filled trip to France.
Euroblade, a popular inline skating event, has taken place in Southampton since 1999, but, for the first time this joint collaboration between the twinned cities of Le Havre and Southampton is taking place across the water.
Le Havre is giving the event a European flavour by inviting keen cyclists and skaters from the UK to make the trip to France on Sunday April 29 and join their French counterparts on a route around the town that will take approximately two hours.
Afterwards, to make this a memorable experience for UK participants, the town of Le Havre has organised an exciting programme of free events to keep people entertained. Some of the attractions being made available to participants will include the Musee Le Havre and the Ship Owner’s Mansion.
Anyone wanting to take part will first need to book and pay for their ferry seat directly with LD Lines on 0870 428 4335 or online at www.ldlines.com. Once the ferry place has been booked participants will need to register with Southampton City Council’s Events Team who will arrange for a free breakfast and T-shirt on arrival at Le Havre.
The online registration form includes further details, pictures from past events and information on the route that will be taken around Le Havre. It can be found at www.southampton.gov.uk/leisure/events or alternatively you can contact the Events Team on 023 8083 2906 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
