It's good news for residents of Bitterne Park who want to buy fresh, local fruit and veg as new organisers say popular pop-up stall The Veg Shed will be back on a regular basis on Saturdays at the Triangle.
It reappeared on November 14 'under new management', having not opened since July, and the plan is to open every Saturday from 9am-2pm in its original spot over the road from the clock tower, near the entrance to Riverside Park.
The Veg Shed stocks a variety of fruit and veg at prices that are apparently well below those of the supermarkets, with much of the produce coming from local farms: last week's tomatoes from Romsey were said to be delicious!
Robin Bluemel, who's taken over the running of the Veg Shed, previously worked with a local fruit and veg wholesalers, and says he'll try to source any unusual fruit and veg for customers – and even deliver orders within the local area free of charge. He says wherever possible the fruit and veg is organic.
In the new year he's hoping to expand the business to include products hand-made by local crafts people.
