Roadworks coming up around Bitterne Park in January

bollardHere's a summary of some scheduled roadworks coming up in and around the area that may cause delays or require choosing alternative routes, including at Kent Road, Cobden Avenue, Bitterne Road East, West End Road, Townhill Way and Burgess Road.

  • Kent Road is due to close from January 11 for a week at the underpass with Thomas Lewis way.
  • Roadworks are scheduled for Cobden Avenue, near Cobbett Road in Bitterne Park, on January 5/6 as Southern Water resolve a leak.
  • Work is also scheduled on Bitterne Road East from January 4 for three weeks to replace metal gas mains with plastic pipe. Work will be between 499 Bitterne Road East and the junction with Honeysuckle Court and two-way temporary lights will be in use. Businesses in the area will remain open.
  • On West End Road on January 5 footway potholes and kerbs are due to be replaced with traffic control in place near the Mousehole roundabout, with delays likely.
  • Delays are also possible from January 25 until around February 4 as multi-way lights control traffic on Townhill Way near Meggeson Avenue for further gas work.
  • On Burgess Road delays are possible from January 7 – 13 as Southern Electric lay cables, although they say there should still be room for traffic to flow normally.
