Out and about: live music

music signIn the first of his local music roundups, Matt Dempsey takes a look at what's on around the area's pubs for the rest of January.

 

Bitterne & Bitterne Park welcome classic rock on Saturday, January 30 with “Turncoat”, playing live at the Hop Inn. Meanwhile The Big Cheese has a DJ playing on Sat 23 and the Bitterne Park Hotel's resident DJ plays on Friday 22 - and every Friday. There's also regular karaoke for budding singers taking place each and every Sunday.

At Bitterne Park Social club you can see band “Misdirected” playing live on the 23rd and “Poky” playing on the 30th

St Denys is brimming with live music this month: The Dolphin hosts an impressive line up including “The Contra Band with Rick Tarrant” on January 22, “The Outfit” returns on January 23, “Cinnamon Jazz” on the January 24, Burns night celebrations with the “Harry Young Jazz Club” on January 25,  the popular open mic nights with “71 Chain” as guest hosts on January 26,, “ DB Three with Dave Hardiman, Chris Parradine & Dave Brown” play on January 28, “Harry Young Jazz Club” and “Arnie Cotteralle and The Velvet Doonicans” play live on January 29., On January 30 you can hear “Junco Shakers” and finally on the 31st Stevie John” plays live.

Meanwhile at The Junction in St Denys, “Daniel Lines” plays live on Saturday 30th.

And finally Portswood hosts live music at the Richmond Inn: “Pure Heaven” play live on January 22 and “The Descendants” on Saturday,January 30.
