Southampton Airport has announced a 5.5% increase in passenger numbers, and new European routes. Meanwhile a Green Party poll in Portswood shows a majority do not want more aircraft in and out of Southampton. And on April 20, Green MEP Caroline Lucas met locals in Midanbury to consult over continuing expansion.Over 146,400 passengers travelled through the airport during March, and three new routes have been announced as the summer season gets underway: to Nice, Frankfurt and Verona. Flybe will serve routes to France and Germany, while Inghams will be flying weekly to Verona in Italy from May 14. Travellers can now fly from Southampton to 47 destinations around the UK, Europe and Channel Islands.
