Now only two black cygnets by Riverside Park

black swans 2 cygnets
It's thought that only two of this year's new black swan cygnets have so far survived. Here's what we think happened to the other three.

Stephanie Knight, who lives by the river and has been updating us on the family's progress, said she thought a pair of white swans had tried to take the nest.

She believes that during the battle, the three cygnets were separated and caught in fast spring tides, so it's thought very unlikely they could make their way back or survive.

The sixth cygnet didn't make it either, as we mentioned on April 8.

The positive news though is that, on Monday (April 11), Stephanie reported she could see the parents with two babies back on their nest.
