Southampton Voluntary Services (SVS) will be visiting various libraries from June 1 – 12 with a Volunteer Roadshow as part of national Volunteers' Week, which encourages people to get involved and find the right volunteering opportunity.
SVS will be at Bitterne Library on June 3 from 2-5pm, and Portswood Library on June 10 from 11am-1pm.
Volunteers' Week began in 1984. Each year more organisations get involved, hosting a variety events throughout the UK, including award presentations, information stands and community events. Over 21 million people volunteer in the UK at least once a year and this contributes an estimated £23.9bn to the UK economy.

“Volunteers' Week is an amazing celebration for the army of volunteers who give their free time up across the city. Also we hope that by bringing volunteering locally to people we can encourage more people to get involved. Volunteering isn’t just good for the charities who work in the city, but also has proven mental and physical health benefits. If you can spare an hour a week, month or even a day a year there will be an organisation who could use your time,” said Imogen Higgs – Volunteer Development Worker
