Election result - May 3, 2007

Peter BaillieConservative Peter Baillie has been re-elected for the Bitterne Park ward in the local election. Labour were in second place, the Lib Dems third and the Greens fourth. Once again, no group has won an overall majority of the council, which has a new composition of: Conservatives 18, Labour 18, Liberal Democrats 12.

Out of the 17 council seats up for election, including one by-election, the Conservative group won nine seats, Labour six and Liberal Democrat group two.

The decision about who will lead the council and form the next administration is expected to be made at the council`s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday May 16.
