Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was knocked unconscious on Osborne Road North in the early hours of Saturday (July 9)
She had to be treated for face and head injuries at Southampton General Hospital.
The woman had been walking home with friends, and was taking part a “heated discussion” when a man approached the group and talked to them, before assaulting the woman.
The incident took place between 2 and 2.30am.
The assailant is described as in his 20s, white, 5ft 7in, slim with brown hair and wearing “dark coloured clothing and a tracksuit-style jacket”.
Police staff investigator Jessica Fay appealed to anyone living along Osborne Road North who heard a dispute, or who witnessed the incident, to make contact: “Did you see or hear anything in the early hours of Saturday? Do you recognise this description? Assist us in this investigation, call 101 in confidence and quote 44160255087.”
