A collection of unique etching plates – the result of over two years’ work and of no value to anyone else – was stolen from an artist's car parked in Dimond Road on Tuesday night (Nov 15).
Drew Mackay says the plates, along with other items, were taken from the boot of his car, which was parked in Dimond Road just over the brow of the hill going away from the school, some time after 4pm and before he left for work the next day.

“These plates are the result of over two years of work for me and are irreplaceable. They aren't of any use or value to anyone else and I would be so grateful to have them back. They are all in an expandable plastic document folder. I wonder if they might have ended up in someone's garden?”
He said the plates were still in his boot after a recent visit to Red Hot Press in town where he’d run off some prints.
“I’ve been etching for just over two years now… I think there were probably about 15 - 20 plates in the folder – all the work I have done in those two years. They range from A4 to A6 in size and are made of either aluminium or zinc. I still have some prints taken from the plates but without them I can’t do any more. Red Hot Press is having a print sale for Christmas on Friday but I’ve had to withdraw from that as I can’t really bear to sell the only prints I have from the plates.”
If anyone has any information or comes across the etching plates, please email Drew Mackay.
