UPDATED Police are investigating two garage fires in the Bitterne Park ward – one in Oaktree Road and one in Sandringham Road.

They say a report was received at 2.46am on Saturday (Jan 14) of a garage fire in Oaktree Road, and a man in a hooded top was seen running from the scene.
A further report was received by police at 3.03am on the same morning, of a garage fire in Sandringham Road (pictured).
The incidents are being linked and treated as suspected arson.

“It was fortunate that both fires were discovered quickly for our colleagues at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service to attend – there is always a risk of serious harm in any fire,” said Detective Constable David Jackson from Southampton CID.
“Both fires have caused significant damage and expense.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in this area in the early hours of Saturday, January 14 and saw anything suspicious.”
