Supporters of Southampton Scrapstore, Transition Southampton, The Art House, Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership and October Books are planning a fundraising ‘Walk the Waterfront’ of the City of Southampton in one day, this Sunday (April 9) – writes Clare Diaper.
From Weston Shore through to Redbridge, Swaythling to St Denys, this walk of nearly 20 miles takes in the special places in our city where we have access to our waterfront.

The walk is a sponsored event raising funds for these amazing organisations, helping them to keep doing what they do in the city. Between them they have provided training and a confidence boost to 100s of volunteers, provided an amazing educational resource for the city, saved 100s of tonnes of materials going to landfill or incineration, kept a creative heart in the city centre, contributed to a reduction in pollution in the city and shared a message of positive action and hope in difficult times.
Free Station Walks book
Every donation of £10 or more will be eligible for a free copy of the Station Walks book, with many sections of these walks in the route covered by the teams on their Walk The Waterfront challenge. To donate, go to the Just Giving website or pop in to any of the participating organisations. To follow our progress visit the Facebook page
