Updated: Simon Letts, leader of Southampton City Council and councillor for Bitterne ward, has said he's been selected to contest the Itchen constituency for Labour.

Letts said on Twitter he was: "Delighted to be chosen to contest Southampon Itchen for Labour."
He previously tweeted: "This election is happening because of short term Tory strength but long term weakness. A hard Brexit will damage Britain don"t vote for it."
Royston Smith for the Conservatives won a majority of 2,316 votes in the Itchen seat, which covers Bitterne Park, at the last general election in 2015.
