Younger children will have the chance to step inside the nest of a unique bird family with performances of Fine Chisel's Flit, Flap & Fly in the square at 12pm, 1.45pm and 3.15pm. This squawking adventure follows the journey of "one very frantic and funny chick" as he prepares to take flight for the first time.

Kitsch duo The JukeBoxes will also be performing throughout the day, springing to life inside 1950s jukeboxes to recreate classic music pop videos in a lip-syncing musical medley using props, masks, puppets and a terrible selection of wigs!

In between performances, families will be entertained with Hetty Feather-themed circus games and activities including face painting and stilt walking.

NST’s family day runs from 11am - 4pm and is part of Summer in the Square, a series of free music events, performances and activities designed to "create a public space to meet, experience and take part".

• Hetty Feather by Jacqueline Wilson is the Nuffield's Christmas show running from November 21, 2017-January 7, 2018. Details here.
