The Hobbit in Bevois Valley says it “could be forced to close its doors permanently within the next 8 weeks,” and launched its own crowdfunding campaign on August 13 setting a £7,500 goal.
At the time of writing it had already had £2,230 pledged.
The venue, which hosts everything from an annual Environmental Rock day to reggae beach parties, metal, folk and ska events, says it’s seen continual increases in overheads, particularly in the form of business rates and the Late Night Levy, while its costs are crippling.
