Lots going on for final So: To Speak day

so to speak logoThe final day of this year's So: To Speak festival of words is upon us on Saturday (October 28), with a host of events around Southampton.

  • Writing Workshop with Hannah Silva, 10am, The Art House:Unleash your creativity and hone your performance skills with the top playwright and performer.

  • Story Hunt with Theatre Biscuit, 10:30am, Central Library: Let your little ones explore Southampton using the powers of storytelling and imagination. Led by Rob Iliffe and Theatre Biscuit, fun for all the family. Ages 4+

  • CSI Southampton, 10:30am, Central Library: Crime fiction meets crime fact. Get your questions answered and interrogate a panel featuring authors Pauline Rowson and Graham Hurley, and real-life crime experts DCI Mandy Horsburgh and CSI Carolyn Lovell.

  • Write Flash Fiction, 10:30am, Central Library: Learn how to work within the confines of extreme brevity. Fifty, a hundred, two hundred; in flash fiction, narrative is condensed so that it says exactly what it needs to.

  • The Science Room, 12pm, The Art House: Got science questions you can't answer? Bring them to us! Join us for this exciting interactive discussion with real Scientists!

  • Words on Wheels, 2pm-6pm, Western Esplanade: What do you get when you fill a number of vintage buses with poets and storytellers? A grand outdoor festival finale in which anyone can take part.

  • Schlock!, 7pm, The Stage Door: In the grand tradition of literary terrorism, Hannah rips up her copy of Fifty Shades of Grey. Surrounded by the crumpled pages, she attempts to put the female body back together.

  • Jon Hart and Maneli Jamal, 7:45pm, The Art House: The famed acoustic guitarists in concert.

  • The Anti-Slam, 9pm, The Stage Door: The only event where the worst poem wins. How bad can it get? This is the competition to find out!
