Police seek Riverside Park attack witnesses

Police are seeking key witnesses following an attack in Riverside Park over the bank holiday weekend.

Between 9pm on Sunday evening, August 26, and the early hours of Monday morning, August 27 a 39-year-old woman was attacked as she walked through Riverside park, in the area of Riverwalk.   The woman sustained cuts and bruises to her head and ankle.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the attack, or anyone who was in the area around Midanbury Lane, Riverwalk, Forest Hill Drive, Old Farm Road, and Witts Hill between 9pm on Sunday night and 3.30am on Monday morning.

In particular officers are keen to hear from the following people, who could be key witnesses:
  • A woman who was at a bus stop in Forest Hill Drive, who spoke to the woman at around 12.20am. The woman is described as white, in her 50s, with long brown hair.
  • A man who spoke to the woman in Midanbury lane, close to the shopping precinct and the Castle Hill pub. He’s described as white, in his early 20s, with short dark hair, wearing a white T-shirt, and jeans
  • A group of youths who were in the vicinity of the incident. The woman is believed to have been sat on a bench and table near to the youths.
Anyone with any information which could help police with their enquiries is asked to contact Bittern CID on 0845 045 45 45, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
