The 21 resident artists will be throwing open the doors to their studios and inviting the public to explore the grade II listed Victorian archways at Southampton’s former cattle market at this ever popular summer event.
The weekend will include a number of events and activities, workshops, exhibitions, demonstrations, and buskers. Among the workshops are family friendly events including glow-in-the-dark wall drawing, learn to cross stitch, yoga, and print your own tote bag.
The Butcher’s Hook will be returning with their popular bar, and they will be joined by Chubby Buns, who will be serving up Malaysian street food.
At 5pm on Saturday Creative Conversations will see guests Ros Carter (head curator at John Hansard Gallery) and Dr Sarah Hayden (who runs the Centre for Modern and Contemporary Writing and the Entropics Experimental Poetry series) in conversation with ‘a space’ director Dan Crow.
The studios will be open from 11am on Saturday June 2 until 5pm, with Arch 04 hosting the Creative Conversations event and music until late. Open Studios will continue on Sunday, June 3 from 1pm until 4pm.
You can find the Arches Studios underneath Central Bridge, accessed from Captain’s Place, just off Terminus Terrace.
