The Environment Agency was at Riverside Park near Woodmill on Monday morning (June 18) carrying out river flow modelling using a remote controlled boat that incorporates specialist radar equipment.

It was measuring the split between the main river and the breach into the top section of Wooodmill at low tide, with water levels being adjustedby lowering the hatches next to Woodmill Pool.
Results will feed into more detailed proposals for possible changes to the sluice gate and river.
Christopher Smith from Groundwork South, which is working with the Environment Agency on the project, said: "Following on from the Phase 1 Consultation and the data received during this period, Environment Agency staff are now carrying out a series of surveys, feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments to assess the overall viability for multiple potential schemes for the area.
"The flow modelling that took place this morning is just one example of the many surveys that now need to be conducted over the coming months in order to amass a wealth of data on the site that will allow for suitable proposals to be developed."
