There have also been reports of similar incidents elsewhere in the city.
Southampton East neighbourhood Inspector Sharman Wicks said: “We know it’s really warm weather, but it’s important to consider whether you are leaving your home vulnerable to burglary too. We would like to advise people to keep accessible windows closed overnight, and doors locked. Where possible park your car in a garage or a well-lit area, and keep car keys away from any windows and doors to prevent them being “fished” through letterboxes or seen by thieves.
“We appreciate the need to keep windows open, but consider how accessible the window is and think about putting your house and car keys well away from them.
“We are appealing for witnesses to these incidents which that have generally occurred between 3am and 8am. Please report any suspicious incidents or people to us."
