Hosted by Southampton People’s Assembly and Unite Community Southampton Area, it takes place from 4-6pm, and will feature “free refreshments, speakers,
live music, and entertainment for all the family”.

“What better way to honour our most beloved and iconic British institution, the National Health Service, than sipping tea with a piece of cake on a mid-summer afternoon!” says the event page on Facebook.

Organiser Joe Dukes said the Sheriff of Southampton, Cllr Peter Baillie, would open the event and various health professionals will speak, including Cllr Sarah Bogle (Lab – Bargate ward, and chair of the council’s Health Overview and Scrutiny Panel).

Performing will be local acts Grant Sharkey, Solomon, and the Red Stars Choir.
