Plans for a Heritage Shop in Bitterne Park are progressing, writes Jason Fellner.
The Bitterne Park Heritage Shop hopefully will open about mid November with myself Jason Fellner in charge of the overall strategy, with help from Peter Baillie. Article continues after this message...
Lindsi Bluemel and a tradesman will spend some time getting the shop up together.
It will be run much in the way many charity shops are run, earning most of its revenue from donated goods. Additionally, on a try it and see basis, some dried fruits and herbs, and purchased 1930’s furniture and curios will be added.
The primary objective is to make a sensible profit to fund the following types of project:
1. Christmas lights in the Triangle
2. To obtain a licence from the Council for a farmers and antiques street market. The shop will provide a funding base/subsidy to make this happen.
3. Any form of restoration particularly for owner-occupiers that enhances the original character of the Triangle.
4. The objective is also to assist and protect other period buildings eg 74 Whitworth Crescent. This does not in time exclude the possibility that an interest in preserving other parts of Southampton’s heritage will also be taken if possible.
In time hopefully this could build into something interesting. Any volunteers are welcome. Please could you ring 023 8034 2591.
The Heritage Shop needs you!
