Friends of Riverside Park chair Doug Perry was one of the 2018 City of Southampton award winners, an accolade recognising people or groups who make exceptional contributions to city life.

Until recently Doug, pictured receiving his award from the mayor, was also chair of the Southampton Cricket league, as well as being president of the City Sunday Football league.
This award was presented by the mayor in recognition of Doug’s tireless work he has given in his community, Bitterne Park and his home City.

Also receiving a City of Southampton award was Dr Cheryl Butler, known for her involvement in many ventures and societies, and for her enthusiasm for recording the history of the city and for promoting its culture and heritage. Her work has included giving numerous talks at local libraries including Cobbbett Road and Portswood.
