It will mean Copswood Road could be closed from its junction with Oaktree Road to its junction with Dell Road.
According to Bitterne Park School it's for the delivery of some temporary classroom accommodation for the Autistic Resource Base on the school site, which is likely to take place on the Tuesday and Wednesday.
The school says on its website: "Access on Copsewood Road will be restricted. Pedestrians (students and staff) will be only be allowed to access the school site from Copsewood Road between 8.00am – 9.00am, 1.20pm – 2.00pm and 3.00pm – 3.30pm. At all other times please access the school via Dimond Road".
The school has confirmed that pedestrians won't be affected.
A spokesperson said: "[The contractor McAvoy] planned to deliver [the temporary units] this weekend however there was a local planning objection so the works had to be moved to during the school week. The gate closures are to make sure students do not access the area where the crane will be."
