Site maintenance & upgrades

The site upgrades last week mean that, among other things, we now have a better commenting system, with a 'latest comments' listing on the front page.

This makes it easier to spot when comments are made to older articles. You can also subscribe to the RSS feed of any particular comment - and don't forget our front page feed, updating you with news almost as it happens, here. (There is a good explanation of RSS feeds on the BBC site here.)

You can even include a 'gravatar' with your comment if you are so minded, and trackbacks are also enabled - not that we've extensively tested these features yet.

Unfortunately there are still some teething problems with the new version of the Noticeboard, so this feature is temporarily offline: it should be fixed very shortly.

Meanwhile we'd like to say a huge 'thank you' to Jim for all his technical help over the last month or so.
