The shop supports the local children and young adults’ hospice. Its stores, which are dotted across the region, are one of the biggest ways the charity says it engages with the local community and promotes the work it does with children and families.
“We know that there could be parents who once their children start school that they start to think about themselves a bit more and possibly getting back into work, or to start thinking about their options,” said Lucy Butcher.
“Our shops are run primarily by volunteers, and these help for a number of different reasons, from gaining retail experience to helping build self-esteem and confidence.
“There are lots of roles within the shop, from being more behind the scenes and helping to sort donations, to more customer facing and serving on the till. We need people with an eye for detail who could help to dress the windows, as well as take on a more active role as a key volunteer once they have gained more experience.”
If you’re over 17 and would like to do a trial shift you can pop into the shop at 491 Bitterne Road East, SO18 5EQ and speak to Lorraine or Michael, or phone 023 8044 4157 for further details.
