The human chain was covered not only in the UK by media including The Guardian and the BBC and the Huffington Post, and even in Newsquest's The Wirral Globe, but also further afield by CNN, The Washington Post and NOS in the Netherlands.
The grand opening for the new bookshop, in the former NatWest bank premises, is on November 3.
October Books raised the cash to buy the bank through loans and donations, because it could no longer afford to pay the rent on its existing store.
"One hour. 200+ people. One stock room, emptied. THAT is community, friends," tweeted October Books.
