It’s at the Premier shop by the Cobden Bridge and Priory Road traffic lights, and the service is due to start on Monday afternoon (Nov 19).
According to a letter to customers on Post Office Consultation Hub (pdf), the service “will be one of our local style branches with a low-screened, open-plan Post Office service point carefully integrated into the retail counter. Customers will be able to carry out a wide range of post office transactions alongside retail purchases. The new service will offer long opening hours, with the Post Office opening hours in line with the retail business.”
The letter (page 2) also gives detailed information about opening times (Mon-Sat 6am-10pm and Sunday 7am-10pm) and services that will be available, which range from stamps and mail to deposits, withdrawals, payments, key charging and more.
Sam Chhabra from the shop said the interest in the new facility had been “unbelievable”, particularly from older people in St Denys who aren’t very mobile and currently have to use buses to get to their nearest post office in Portswood.
