Cobden Bridge was closed to traffic in both directions from around 7am on Tuesday morning (Nov 27) following a "road traffic incident" on St Denys Road that reportedly involved a police vehicle.

Traffic coming down Cobden Avenue, including college buses, had to turn round at the clock tower and try to find alternative routes, while there was also a roadblock at the junction from Thomas Lewis way. Temporary lights on Manor Farm Road exacerbated problems for drivers.

The lane towards the Triangle was reopened about an hour later, with the bridge fully reopened by about 8.40am.

Police told the Daily Echo four people sustained minor injuries in the crash, which involved a Seat Leon and a police car.
