The school’s website says: “There is a project to improve the pedestrian bridge between Athelstan Road and Quayside Road as part of a quietway cycle route linking Northam River Bridge and Bitterne Village.

“The works will result in total closure of this bridge over the rail line for a period of up to three weeks – this will impact on how people will walk to Bitterne Manor School. A diversion route will be in place to direct pedestrians and cyclists via Athelsatan Road, Bitterne Road West and Rampart Road (ie the main road long way round).

“The works are scheduled to start on the 18th Feb and will last three weeks.”
